Pastor of Visitation

Minister of Pastoral Care – Cheryl A. Fuller, PhD

Dear Friends at COCU,

I have recently been honored to fill the position of Pastoral Care Visitor at The Church of Christ Uniting and would like to share a bit of my history with you.

My hometown is Chelsea, Vermont, a town with a population of 1,000 in central Vermont. I attended grade school in Chelsea, high school at Northfield School for Girls in Massachusetts, and college at the University of Vermont. My major was Nursing, a profession that I had dreamed of since childhood. In pursuing that dream, I graduated from Binghamton University with a M.S. degree and New York University with a PhD.

I have worked as a Public Health Nurse, a school nurse, and a Nurse Educator at Misericordia and Wilkes University as well as the University of Scranton. In my role as Nurse Practitioner, I have worked in Women’s Health in a physician’s office, a public agency, and for 15 years, owned my own practice.

When Hurricane Agnes claimed our home in Forty Fort, my husband and two children (ages three and five at the time) took the opportunity to be Volunteers in Mission for a year. We travelled to Alexandria, Egypt, and resided at Schutz American School, where I was a school nurse, my husband was the art teacher and our children attended nursery school and kindergarten.

Upon return, we bought a house in Dallas, where I have resided since. My husband of 48 years passed away 10 years ago. My daughter lives in Dillsburg, PA and works at Messiah University. My son lives in Kennett Square, PA and works in business. I am blessed with two grandsons and a granddaughter.

Another passion of mine is service. I have been involved in providing healthcare to migrant workers and incarcerated women as well as feeding the homeless here in Pennsylvania. I have also had the opportunity to teach nursing in Nakasake, Africa.

My interests lie in travel, reading, yoga, meditation, doing jigsaw puzzles, walking along the sandy beach, and spending time with family and friends.

When I first entered Church of Christ Uniting, I felt like I was home. I look forward to meeting you and serving you in my new position.

In peace,

Cheryl Fuller
